The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild features numerous charm-filled side quests scattered across Hyrule, offering players unique encounters and helpful rewards. One memorable objective is A Wife Washed Away, a task given by a distressed Zora residing in Zora's Domain. Completing this quest requires tracking down a missing villager who has drifted far downstream during a fishing trip.
Starting the Quest in Zora's Domain
To initiate the quest, head to Zora's Domain after resolving the main events surrounding Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Locate Fronk, a worried Zora carpenter who can be found near the columns on the upper level of the domain. Speaking with Fronk reveals that his wife, Mei, vanished after going fishing and may have been swept away by the river currents.
Fronk expresses severe concern regarding her whereabouts, suspecting she was carried far away by the water. Your goal is to locate Mei across Hyrule and remind her to return home to her waiting husband.
Finding Mei's Location in Lake Hylia
Although the river flows south from Lanayru, Mei has ended up surprisingly far away in Lake Hylia. Fast travel to the Lake Tower or a nearby shrine to reach the region quickly and gain a high vantage point. From there, glide down toward the small cluster of islands situated in the eastern portion of the lake.
Look for a Zora swimming around one of the smaller islands southeast of the main landmass. Mei is happily catching fish, completely unaware of how far she has drifted or how much time has passed since she left home.
Completing the Task and Claiming Rewards
Approach Mei on the island and initiate a conversation to inform her that Fronk is worried about her absence. Surprised by the news, she realizes her mistake and immediately prepares to journey back to Zora's Domain. Before departing, Mei expresses her gratitude by gifting Link five Staminoka Basses.
These valuable fish can be used in cooking recipes to craft meals that restore stamina during challenging climbs and glides. Afterward, you can revisit Zora's Domain to see Fronk and Mei reunited, successfully concluding the side quest.
