The SSG Landers extended their winning streak to three games behind the bat of Guillermo Heredia, who returned from injury, and Ha Jae-hoon’s third consecutive home run.
SSG won 11-7 at home against the KIUM Heroes of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Tuesday in a wild game that saw both teams combine for 32 hits.
Third-place SSG, which played in light rain throughout the game, closed the gap on second-place KT Wiz to one game.
Eredia’s bat was on fire from the first inning, as he made his comeback after being sidelined with a left thigh injury. Facing a 0-1 deficit and runners on first and third in the first inning, he lined a single up the middle to tie the game.
In the fourth, he hit a sacrifice fly with runners on first and third to make it 7-2, and in the fifth, with runners on first and third, he hit an RBI double down the left field line. Heredia went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored in his comeback.
After homering in back-to-back games against the Jamsil Doosan Bears on April 26 and 27, Ha fired up the cannon for the third straight game.
After hitting a game-tying single in the first inning with runners on first and second in a 1-1 tie, he took a fastball from Kiwoom starter Ian McKinney with runners on first and second in the third inning and crushed it over the wall for a three-run home run to make it 6-2. It was his sixth home run of the season.
Ha added an RBI single in the fifth inning to finish the game 4-for-5 with a double, a walk and five RBIs. It was his first career five-hit game.
SSG looked to be on their way to an easy victory in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring four runs on six straight hits to take a commanding 11-2 lead. However, Kiwoom started a late rally in the top of the sixth inning, scoring five runs on six hits.
Kiwoom was unable to score any more runs after that, but they did manage to get SSG’s best pitchers, Noh Kyung-eun and Ko Hyo-joon, to relieve Seo Jin-yong.스포츠토토
Kiwoom got its fourth multi-hit game of the season in the sixth inning when Lee Ju-hyung singled up the middle.
Games in Jamsil (Doosan Bears-LG Twins), Suwon (Samsung Lions-KT WIZ), Daejeon (Lotte Giants-Hanwha Eagles), and Gwangju (NC Dinos-KIA Tigers) were canceled due to rain.
