Right-hander Frankie Montas to Cincinnati for $16 million a year

Local media, including the New York Post, reported on the 31st (Korea time) that Montas will sign a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds for $16 million (KRW 20.78 billion).

Montas pitched in 130 games in eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees, with a 37-35 record and 3.90 ERA.월카지노

In 2021, he played 187 innings in 32 games, 13-9 with a 3.37 ERA and ranked sixth in the Cy Young Award voting.

Based on his performance, he was traded to the Yankees in 2022, but he recorded only 6.15 ERA in nine games in two seasons after the transfer.

A shoulder injury bothered him. He had surgery in February, and making four outings in one last appearance at the end of the season was all he pitched for the 2023 season.

When he is healthy, he is a good player. During the 2021 season, he displayed overwhelming pitching power with 88 percent of fastball speed (96.3 miles), 90 percent of manned ball success rate (32.5 percent), and 75 percent of swing and miss rate (29.6 percent).

Montas will lead the rotation with Nick Martinez, who joined him first, if he remains healthy in the 2024 season.

Young starters such as Hunter Green, Graham Ashcraft, Andrew Abbot, Nick Rodolo and Brandon Williamson will join them.

Cincinnati, which has not won the district championship since 2012, is actively strengthening its power by investing $1525 million this offseason alone.

Earlier, he signed Martinez, right-hander Emilio Pagán and infielder Zaimer Candelario, and re-signed bullpen pitcher Buck Palmer.
