Bae Bae-hwan nears ML return, blasts home run in rehab game

By Yoon-seo Park = Pittsburgh Pirates’ Bae Ji-hwan activated the home run machine in his third rehab game.

Bae, who is playing for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians of the Pittsburgh organization, went 1-for-3 with a double, a home run and a walk in the leadoff spot against the Atlanta Braves’ Triple-A Gwinnett Strikers at Cooley Field in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on Tuesday (June 6).

Leading off the sixth inning, Bae took advantage of starter Alan Wynans’ 82.4 mph changeup for a one-run home run over the center field fence. It was his first arch in the minors this year.

However, Indianapolis suffered a 1-5 loss. Bae’s home run was the team’s only run.

Bae felt pain in his ankle while running the bases against the Milwaukee Brewers on May 2, and was placed on the disabled list (IL) the next day.

He rehabbed by playing catch and taking fielding drills, and started playing in a Triple-A game two days ago. In his first game, he drew a walk and scored a run, and in his next game, he recorded a hit.온라인바카

In 69 Triple-A games this year, Park is batting .282 with five home runs, 29 RBIs, 10 doubles, and a .798 OPS.
